Carbon Storage Site Exploration

Our Workflow

InCapture provides CO2 storage solutions to emitters within Australia and aims to provide solutions for international markets through cross-border transportation of CO2 .  InCapture is currently focusing on storage sites within Australian Commonwealth waters but is also looking further afield into South East Asian opportunities.

Our team of highly experienced geoscientists and engineers undertake an extensive screening process to determine appropriate CO2 storage sites:

1. Regional Screening

  • Geological and geophysical review
  • Geopolitical and regulatory framework review

2. Basin Screening

  • Geological and geophysical review
  • Risk Assessment

3. Area Screening

  • Geological and geophysical review
  • Site Selection and characterisation
  • Risk and hazards identification

4. Site Characterisation

  • Geological and geophysical review
  • Reservoir engineering and resource review
  • Review of proximal emissions sources and capture and transport networks
  • Economic and commercial screening

5. Greenhouse Gas Block Nomination

  • Nomination of an area for an upcoming GHG Acreage Release

6. GHG Acreage Release - Bid Submission

  • Submission of a GHG Acreage Release Bid with exploration work program

7. GHG Block Award

  • Exploration work program to quantify and delineate CO² storage characteristics and commerciality
  • Declare GHG Storage Formation
  • Convert exploration permit to production permit

8. CO2 Storage

  • Inject CO2 into storage formation at commercial rates
